New Resident Welcome Checklist
Everything to do before move‑in, on day 1, during week 1, and within your first 30 days—so you start strong.
Before move‑in: approvals & utilities
- Residency approval confirmed; deposit/fees paid.
- Lease and community rules received and read.
- Utility accounts set up (water, sewer, electric, gas, trash, internet).
- Mailing address, mailbox key, and delivery holds updated.
- Parking plan for move‑in day (route & clearance confirmed).
Day 1: safety & setup
- Water on; check for leaks; label shut‑off valves.
- Power on; label breaker panel; test GFCIs.
- Test smoke and CO alarms; place fire extinguisher.
- Walk the lot: trip hazards, skirting, steps/railings.
- Take photos of the site and home condition for your records.
Week 1: settle in & meet neighbors
- Confirm trash/recycling day; review amenity access.
- Introduce yourself to adjacent neighbors; swap contact info for emergencies.
- Speed limits, parking, and quiet hours understood.
- Pets registered (if required) and picked‑up areas known.
First 30 days: compliance & comfort
- Lot tidy: lawn/landscaping set; storage out of sight if required.
- Heat tape/insulation checked (where applicable).
- Any add‑ons (sheds, porches, fencing) approved in writing before starting.
- Emergency contacts and severe‑weather plan posted on fridge.
